Tomastiks are absolutely amazing.
unfortunately.... i used fast fret on em once... took some of that nice gunmetal finish off.. along with some of the tone
but i have had these on for 9 months and they sound great. I changed the round wound strings on my old bass 3 times (that's 4 sets) in the course of a year.

I did a little semi-umplugged benefit yesterday afternoon. I love the low end for sure with these strings, but they seem to react a little differently in the high end for me.
They definitely move the vibe more towards an EUB sort of thing but may at the same time limit some of the other timbres available. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Strings develop character and get mellow with age. So to answer your question...I try not to change them at all.
