If you own a Barker Bass Maroon Gig Bag...

...you may be interested to know that a couple owners have reported that the zippers, which meet at the bottom on either side of the endpin, have occasionally opened a little. No tragedies have been reported. That's good. We have a fix, and that's even better.

What we've landed on is a small carabiner which can remain attached to one zipper pull and be clipped to the other before you trek. It's simple, effective and, to anyone closely observant to what goes on inches above the floor, quite elegant.

It comes to you free in the US Mail if you but request it.

Use the PM feature of our friendly host here at Talkbass.com and we'll have the mail room humming on your behalf. Just for our records, if you'll include the serial number of your bass that would be helpful.

Kindly,

Lee

Lee: Thanks, but.....

Lee: Thanks for the offer, but...

I've never closed the bottom of my gig bag since I've owned it. The rubber-tipped endpin, which is at the bottom of my B2 prototype, has always protruded from the bottom of the gig bag.

No big deal, and not a problem. To try and get my Barker bass totally inside the gig bag is a lot more effort than I care to engage in. I'd have to telescope the stand back inside the bass to make it fit, but then I'd have to re-set the stand to the correct height every time I took it out of the bag.

Not worth it....

That is the design. So the short zipper comes from the back side, and the long zipper comes from the opening side, and you have the two zipper pulls on either side of the endpin hub, right?

The chancy part is when both zipper pulls migrate up a bit and the opening enlarges. Hooking the two pulls together prevents that.

The bonus is that when folks see you have a carabiner, they immediately think you've done Everest or K2 and they give you more respect. If they don't, whack 'em with a crampon. It's always worked for me.
