Michael's Custom Lined Fretless Brio

This myrtlewood has been in Michael's family for over 75 years. He brought a hunk to Barker Musical Instruments and took a hunk down the road to Breedlove. Here's a picture of what we ended up with. He took it home today.

The wood was riddled with wormholes the diameter of a pencil lead. "Character" we decided. They're filled.

The back is also myrtle, less figure, with a walnut center stripe.

Michael is pleased, and I bet he's practicing as I write this. In his fall-in band, the guitar player with the short straw gets to play bass. I kinda think Michael is going to ask to have semipermanent possession of the short straw for a while.

And he showed me one of the Breedloves. Achingly beautiful, and tone to match.
