| | | | Too many for me, but I have 'em anyhow. I need to take inventory sometime, but I know I have about 50. some premium, and some firewood.
Anyhow, right now I'm like a mosquito in a nudist camp. I know exactly what to do, but don't know where to start.
Top 5?
'73 Fender J
NJ B.C Rich Mockingbird
Modulus vintage J-4
Ric 4003
Alembic series 1
But my favorite Player? is (get this) A Squier P-special 5'r. It's a tough utility bass for cheap and it works.

1. My '71 Fender P...the best I've ever played.
2. A Fender ash bodied P/J (Hot Rod)
3. '60 stacked knob Fender Jazz
4. Ric 4001 Zero Fret
5. Sadowksy NYC '51 P
I think that works.
Definitely others I'd love to have...Fender Telecaster Bass, Sadowsky Jazz, one of all the Lakland sig series, Zebrawood Thunderbird, Gibson SG Bass, Ripper, Grabber, G-3 Grabber etc. but the list is good for working in what I do as a bassist.

I'm mostly interested in vintage stuff in general. | I love the vintage look of the blocked and bound necks. I prefer the maple fretboard black block and binding but the rosewood and white or pearloid blocks and binding is killer on certain colors too!
That being said,
#1 - I'd have the Fender Custom Shop make me an exact replica of Geddy's Red jazz bass, but with the current neck profile of their MIM line.
#2 - Rickenbacker 4003 in Jet Glow (pick a year, I'd have to play it first but prefer their neck profile like in 2006)
#3 - The pair of SX jazz basses I am building/have built black w/maple and blocks one with a white pick guard and one with tort.
#4 - I'd have Nino build me a passive 4 string LPB jazz with a rosewood fretboard, cream perloid blocks, cream binding and a cream pearloid pickguard.
#5 - A white p/j Aerodyne and reserve the right to add a Tort pickguard and upgrade the electronics if I wanted

I'd put flats on the PJ, stainless rounds on th Thunderbass, and nickel rounds on the others.
That would cover it for me; I can't think of any sound I'd want that I couldn't get with one of those.

1. Jazz (four string)
2. Jazz (five)
3. G&L SB-1 or SB-2
4. Fender Precision V
5. Lakland Hollowbody
I have the first three, which are all I need.
