Fender American Vintage Basses

Hey guys, i'm new here.

What do you guys think of these basses? how do they compare to the standard american fenders?

they are the next best thing to custom shop IMO. I own a Fender American Vintage '75 Reissue Jazz and i love it. it's my main axe. i want to get two more. the 62 jazz and precision. the quality is very high, the tone is vintage goodness, and the playability is great too.

While they ARE some of the best stuff outside of the custom and artist shops, they are also REALLY expensive for their parts. The sum of the parts just doesn't add up to the 1400 dollar price trag associated with most of the new RI. Personally I would save a little more and buy a real vintage instrument or head into the land of the custom shop.

Sorry for no response on this thread directly from TPB up to now, but I'd agree with markjazzbassist...

Some folks just don't have the $3k to drop on a custom shop instrument, and they want a bass now! For $1,400 you get the same vibe as a reall vintage piece, it's American made and it's a Fender...

In the current market, it's hard to find an American built instrument for 1400 period... I think it's a pretty good buy.

Which leads me to my next comment... TPB is now a FENDER DEALER! We expect our first shipment to arrive in 3-4 weeks!

I'm actually after a sunburst '62 Vintage RI Precision...I may have to drop by one day, James!

We have received our first American Reissue, a Sunburst ’62 P-Bass. I must say that I am a huge fan of this bass. I own an original ’76 P-Bass and the reissue feel just like the real thing. (I have played an original ‘60s era P-Bass before.)

I personally think this is the best P-Bass Fender currently makes. The Hwy 1 maybe the best “bang for the buck”, but the ’62 R.I. is the best playing, sounding and looking! IMO

Well... the parts don't assemble themselves... there's a lot more than just a bunch of parts put together in those basses.

i got my 77 for 1,200.... worth much more than that and i am very happy with the deal i got. re-issues are probably your best bet, usally they are cheaper than the vintage and they are easier to find
