Fender Jazz Marcus Miller Bass - Probs

This 56 year old has started playing again after a 30 year layoff. Apart from all the note positions on the fretboard being changed I am doin ok.

I bought a fender jazz Marcus Miller because the action was cool and it sounded great in the shop with the Ampeg BA112 practice amp I purchased also. Who is going to play with me anyway?

As I improve and get used to round wired strings (used tape wound in my heyday) I have noticed the G string lacks bottom and is a bit reedy. Specification says strings are Super 7250M, NPS, p/n 073-7250-006,
Gauges: (.045, .065, .085, .105)

Now I am not into slap bass but rather Tamla Mowtown, rage against the machine and other stuff so why did I buy a Marcus Miller bass?? I am sorry - I don't know. Also the tone control on the bridge pickup has a HUGE effect on the volume and sound on the midle pickup even if the bridge pikup volume is turned down flat.

Can you advise how I might get more bottom from the g string please and could the bass be misswired?

Forgive if this is posted in wrong place.

Pete,

Give me a call … Lets discuss. 866-751-3220.

Even thought you didn’t purchase the bass from me I can spare a few minutes to help out a fellow bass player in need.
