Please comment on gear

Hi,
1. I'm thinking to get a P-Bass Deluxe - (flatwound string and preferrably usa). I currently don't own a bass (been playing friends') and is planning to play anything jazz, funk and blues.
What's your thoughts on this bass?

2.Which Amp should I go with? I'm looking for a nice small Amp that can fuel a little room with few people (not too large and not too expensive, I'll sacrifice some $$$ to get a quality small amp rather than a bad one).

If you are looking at a USA made Fender, I would also take a look at Music Man! They make amazing basses that for about the same $$ as a nice USA Fender will give you better quality. Fender makes good stuff, but I really like Music Man for production USA made stuff!

On amps, I'd look at the Genz-Benz Shuttle Series. The 210 combo or the 212 combo will be more than enough for practice with a drummer and just about any gig!

Any particular model you suggest on the Music Man that's on par with Precision Deluxe USA?

I think that the closest thing you'll get to a P sound would be from the Big Al. With the 3 single coils you can pull out a huge range of tones from P to J to classic music man stingray vibes. It's really a hugely versatile instrument!

Music Man Stingray is very hard to argue with if Traditional look and feel is all you are interested in.

TPB is doing you a great service in directing you to examine that as an option.

I myself have 4 Ibanez BTB's. If you will consider Boutique advancments you need to check those out.

As for his Amp suggestion, I'm a Genz Man. The tone on the Genz Streamlier might shock you, so ask about those.

A NeoX 112 Cabinet will do a whole Room, Small Amvets Hall, and will keep up with a 4x12 Guitar and Acoustic Drums. Two cabs might get you fired for being too loud like me.
