For sale only and priced to move:
1981 G&L F-100 Series II guitar in the less common hardtail design. Nicely aged natural finish over a two-piece ash body with a beautiful macassar ebony fretboard. Guitar appears to be all original with the possible exception of the pickup selector switch which has a slightly stiffer feel than my other F-100s. It's the right type and the electronics are wired as stock and function perfectly. Note this is the passive model.
This guitar has been played and shows plenty of honest wear and tear. If you're looking for a showroom piece, move along. If you're looking for a collectible you won't be afraid to play, here it is. Playing condition is excellent. Cosmetic condition is generally good with the exception of some good sized chips to the finish, especially around the butt end.
The most notable scar runs from the lower strap peg along the body joint about two inches in the front and one inch in the back. This appears to have been drop-filled with super glue by a previous owner but is a pretty utilitarian job and could probably be made prettier by someone who knows what they're doing. I showed it to a luther and he said he didn't think the seam was at any risk of splitting and that it was probably just that the joint was never quite perfect when it was originally glued and clamped. He suggested the super glue was probably more to protect further damage to the finish than anything, but that it would also obviously strengthen the joint. It's been rock solid the whole time I've owned it through numerous changes in season, so I really think it's just cosmetic. I briefly flirted with the idea of refinishing it, but couldn't bring myself to do it. The finish has some checking and I believe it's nitro, but I'm not positive. I know that was not uncommon on these early F-100s though.
The neck is in excellent shape, with really just a few dings around the top of the headstock. There is one notch in the ebony board at the G position on the low E. Doesn't affect playability, but won't show in photos so I mention it in the interest of full disclosure. Truss rod works perfectly. Lower frets show some wear but fret life is very good overall.
Will ship in a case that is absolutely the wrong type for this guitar. Sorry, but it's all I have. It's what I received this in, so I know it'll provide adequate protection for shipping, but consider essentially packing material and included in the sale free of charge. Maybe you can use it as a home for something else, in which case ... bonus.
I won't ship without the case, but alternately I can go to Guitar Center for a case or gig bag of the buyer's choice provided A) it's in stock and B) the buyer agrees to reimburse me in full including local sales tax (5.5%). Sorry, but GC is about the only brick and mortar source for these things these days.
Price is $550 shipped and insured (CONUS). PayPal is fine. PM with questions. Now on to the pics:
