1990 Tie Dyed Harley

Sign in to disble this ad
Time to move on. This is my beloved 1990 Harley XL1200H with a ton of custom parts including a spectacular 17 color paint job hand sprayed by DanoAir! Yup it is a tie dyed Harley!
Here is all the things that I can think of that have been done over the last 7 years that I have had the bike. In those 7 years the bike has been garage kept, but driven from March to November and in January as well!! I am sure I am missing a few things...

1. JP Cycles Drag Pipes (Black)
2. Harley Davidson 16" smoked Windshield
3. Harley Davidson Gas Cap
4. Harley Davidson "Live To Ride" Gold/Chrome Eagle Headlight Visor
5. New 2-Up seat
6. 1 year old chain
7. 1 year old Stator
8. about 12000 miles on tires
9. S&S Carbs
10. Leather Saddle Bags with Chrome Brackets
11. Highway Pegs -- Chrome O-Ring style
12. Mid-Controls
13. Small Sissy Bar
14. Larger 3.2 gallon Tank
15. 4 speed transmission
16. Harley Wide Glide Handlebars
17. New Battery
18. Battery Buddy system
19. Braided Stainless Steel Throttle Cables
20. Chrome Battery box
21. Oil Temp Gauge dipstick
22. Custome HD Blue Dot rear signal lenses
23. New Starter relay

The truth is my wife has back problems, but wants to ride. This bike is great for 1 person or 2 younger healtier people. Unfortunately neither of those are myself or my wife... Price is firm.. $4000!

Keep the bike, trade in the wife! Heh. I like the paint. Seems like a really good price too.

I have been stopped everywhere I go because of the paint. People just love it. Just time for a bike that is better suited for an older rider like myself.

Have had 3 offers of under $3000... No thanks. I'll keep it for that, you know.

Not trying to throw a stick in the works, but around here that scooter would fetch around $2500 to $3000.

Exceptions would be lower than average mileage and closer to stock.

Another thing working against you is the paint. It's very cool, but it's too personal and will have limited appeal. Most people looking for a used bike will see yours and their first thought would be to repaint it, unless of course they are a dead head.

Making one too personal hurts you when it's time to sell. unless you just need the money, get one you can do 2 up on and have some fun with the sporty. Turn it into a rigid, spit in yer eye gotohell chopper, a nice cafe racer, or just keep it clean and take it out on nice days when you go solo.

Well, thank you for your input, but none of it matters IMHO to me. It is a very personalized bike and it is put together for a Deadhead... Me... Again, I am in no real hurry or have no reason to sell it for a crap low price just because someone tells me they could buy a stock Harley for less. Go buy the stock one. Put whatever you want on it. This is my bike and it is dressed with the idea that it has more than the average bike, which this one is not average. Yes, the paint took 3 months, 17 colors all hand worked and designed with a matching full faced helmut. There are maybe 1000 people nation wide that would spark interest in this bike. ok.. I have no problem with that. By the way, I have both a 2 up and solo seat with both luggage racks. Cafe Racers are for punks and old guys with too much money.
