So, I've got this guitar that I've recently come across via trade. I got for a really good price and started to restore it. I'll include all info I know about it.

I got it in a trade and it was in terrible shape. It had really, really bad routing done to it in the 80s. Obviously done before I got it and that's when the owner got it. the guitar had original neck, body, and pickups. The routing caused the owner to make a pickguard for it and they did a terrible job on that to. They removed the switches and put new pots and new knobs on it.

I replaced the original sunburst body with a Mocha brown because it's the only one I could get my hands on and it had a nice 70s vibe. I put RI pickguard, control plate, pickup covers, and switches on it. The tuners are also non-original but they DO have the "F"s on the tuners.

Okay, now the not so pretty, if that wasn't bad enough. The guitar is a fully functional guitar except it does not have a tailpiece. The first owner also routed extra space underneath the tail piece and I didn't think to buy a new one because I don't use the tremolo and was happy with the stop tailpiece. It does however still have the original saddles. I also have the original Sunburst body that would go with the guitar.

For trades: I'm interested in pretty much any Fender Bass of equal value. Any Vintage Fender Basses or RI Basses. Japanese Fender basses and bass rigs. PM w/ an offer and we'll see if we can't work something out.

Sell outright I would like $700 shipped to the lower 48. Paypal only if cash.

I'm willing to work trades + cash, trading up, down sideways, whatever it takes. I play bass and not guitar so I am considering about anything.

p.s. more pictures upon request.

Price drop. $700

No trades for basses or bass amps? What if I were to throw a vintage bridge on it?

The body is from a late 70s Fender Mustang, I'm not really sure how to date it exactly. The neck plate is original as well. The serial is on the headstock of this guitar though.

Also, I have a the tremplate/hardtail that was originally on the sunburst. With a minimal amount of routing, it would fit, no problem. Not stock obviously and since I figured I was getting rid of, I would let the new owner decide what they want to. The bridge and tuners is original as well but the bushings for the tuners have been replaced.

So what (if anything) is wrong with the mocha body? On a stock Mustang, the bridge plate is screwed to the body with those 5 screws that you have there, and then the springs go into the two diagonal slots. The bridge itself goes in the two thimbles. It looks like this body just needs a Mustang tremolo assembly, bridge, and bar to work again, right?

Just wanted to clarify...

I have the original bridge it just needs the tremolo assembly and bar and it's a functional guitar. There is NOTHING wrong with the brown Mustang body.
