This is a custom ordered 2004 Hamer USA Monaco Elite with paperwork from the factory. It has an "Ultimate"-grade quilt maple top upgrade and matching headstock. These generally come with a slightly less pretty top and solid black painted headstock. The finish is also unusual in that it is trans-black over a quilted top. I've seen a lot of trans-black flamed topped Monacos out there, but this is the only quilt top I've ever seen in this color. That's not to say that this is the only one out there, just that it doesn't seem to be a common color.
Otherwise, the specs are the same as any other Monaco Elite...which is to say that they are top notch across the board. All of Hamer USA's guitars are completely hand built with the exception that the rough body shape is cut out by CNC machine. The attention to detail that went into this thing's construction is amazing. There are literally no flaws. Fretwork, binding, stain, finish, inlays, etc...its all perfect. Plays and sounds exceptional as well.
I'm selling it because I'm primarily doing the bass thing nowadays (imagine that, since I'm trolling Talkbass
) and my guitars are all just sitting in their cases. Honestly, this ones so nice I've always been to scared to take it out of the house and play it anyway--for fear that I would end up damaging it. As such, I've only used it for recording at home and its in mint condition. Not a mark on it anywhere.
