FS/FT: Bose 901 series V Project

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked up a pair of Bose 901 Series V speakers with equalizer at a garage sale awhile back in a lot of stereo gear that I bought. When I got them home I found that all the foam surrounds are in poor shape and disintegrating. I cleaned up and oiled the cabinets, found replacement foam online and replaced the foam on a couple of the drivers (there are 9 in each cabinet), and lost interest in the project. You could also check out someone like this that will replace the foam with cloth surrounds that will last a lifetime: Bose 901 Speaker Repair Service Re-Edge Lifetime Cloth ReFoam | eBay

I have not checked the Equalizer, but if there is any serious interest I can as I have another pair of 901's.
I have more hi fi speakers than I need. I'm willing to sell them for $200 plus split the shipping (I can get a deal on shipping at my work) or throw something at me as a trade. The equalizers alone go for $150 on eBay. Or make me an offer. Someone needs to enjoy these speakers. IF there is interest I'll take and post pics. Thanks

Pics

The wood on the enclosures looks very good... they were hung from the ceiling so there are some screw holes but other than that they are nice.

Correction: The holes are on the bottom; apparently these speakers were attached to stand at one point. Tops are in very good condition.

Tuesday bump for some direct-reflecting hi-fi goodness. I am including all the foam surrounds and glue to repair them. Make me an offer.

I had one of these on top of a Sunn Collesium 300, on top of a Peavey 2x15, through a crossover. AWESOME rig... I still have the crossover. Thinking...

Wow, I never thought about using 901's as a bass cab. With or without the Bose EQ?

Bump for the only Hi-Fi speaker known to be capable of being used for a Bass cab.

Sunday bump. I said this as I was facing a wall so you could hear my voice in a direct-reflected manner, just like Bose 901's.

Somebody please step up. Seeing this ad everyday is killing me.

I've been eyeing these speakers, but my wife would kill me if I spent cash right now. Still, it looks like a fun project.

These speakers LOVE power, and they sound great pushed. I had a pair of these in college, and traded them for a set of Magnepan. Now I have nothing.

I have a pair of NAD Power Envelope 2200 bridged mono just sitting around that could really push these speakers.

I worked at a stereo shop in the early 80's, and the Bose rep demonstrated them with a speaker wire with a 110VAC power plug on the end. They made a mighty 60 cycle hum when he plugged it in, then they worked fine afterwards. Not many other speakers would fare as well. They are remarkable speakers.
