FS/FT :: VOX Berkeley Super Reverb Amplifier

FS/FT :: VOX Berkeley Super Reverb Amplifier AS-IS ($400 shipped CONUS)

I am putting this out there, as I don't have the time right now to overhaul this amp as I'd intended. I am certain that there are leaky caps, but I haven't even opened it up to get a good look at it, as other projects have taken the priority. I am selling this "AS-IS" due to the fact that I know it needs TLC to be a good performer.

The amp DOES in fact produce good LOUD sounds, but there's some crackling in the signal (could be anything from the input to the final output). The reverb works, and the tremolo works as well, so there's really nothing THAT wrong with the amp.

If you want to read more about this historic piece, check out The VOX Showroom - The Vox Berkeley Amp and you can find out everything that you need to know. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions, but FWIW I am not interested in doing ANYTHING to the amp right now, so I don't plan on opening it up for pictures, or checking anything electrical... once I go down that path, I'll probably work on it.

If you think that my pricing is out of whack, let me know; I came to the $500 mark after talking with some serious vintage collectors. I would MUCH prefer a cash offer, as this is a jointly owned item and cash is easier to split, BUT I would be willing to entertain any interesting trade offers.
Thanks for looking!

The price has been dropped, though I was told that I should really keep this piece of history.

I have started cleaning up this head, and I think that honestly it only needs a great deal of contact cleaner and it's going to be in business. I am also in the process of swapping out the power cord for a properly grounded one.

Question

Why does the amp in the picture say that it's a "Pacemaker" (right above the knobs) whe the cabinet's badge in the same picture says it's a Berkley II?

That's a great question! I know that the Berkley III had the badge and that name plate matching, but I don't know about the Berkley II. It's odd to me b/c the layout is NOT like that of a Pacemaker (5 knobs vs. the 6 knobs on this one) so I can't really speak to what's going on here.

I was able to confirm (when I took this apart) that the original speaker connection was repalced with a 3 prong outlet (which was not connected to anything at all). I am thinking that someone just wanted something to fill the void? Dunno.

Ah... (edited) I found a listing for another Berkley II
1966 Vox Berkeley II V1081 w/2x12 cabinet Black > Amps & Preamps - Tommy's Guitar Shop | Gbase.com

Other than the control panel stating "Pacemaker" (and the aforementioned 3 prong outlet) you can see that they're obviously the same model. Very interesting...

Well, considering I live in Fredericksburg and I need a reverb tube amp, maybe we could work out a deal. PM me. I will have to take it to a tech I know and he will likely charge me at least $75, so keep that in mind.

I replied to your PM, but just noticed that you're looking for a TUBE amp, this is solid state only.

This has been repaired... I'm closing the thread as I decide what to do with this amp. PM me if you're interested, I may still sell it at $400.

I'm bumping this for now, as I am about to try listing this on eBay in the next couple of weeks where it may get a good bit of attention. The amp works perfectly, and it needs nothing at this time, I was jamming with it last night. I'm debating as to whether I can justify keeping it, but for now, it's for sale at $400 shipped for TB members. I plan to sell it on eBay with a Buy it now! set at $650 shipped.
