FS Linn Genki high-end CD Player

Sign in to disble this ad
Winner of many British Magazine CD-Player shoot-outs, HDCD capability, balanced, detailed, 8/10 due to age (6.5 yrs) but otherwise very, very nice condition.

I have not had any problems with this player whatsoever. Purchased used from authorized Linn dealer in October 2001. Was approx 1 yr. old at time of purchase.

Very enjoyable sound that is true to the disc being played. Does not impart its own sound on anything. Every disc comes through with its own character. Incl Linn box, manual, remote, power cord, Linn black high quality interconnects.

$845 USF
plus shipping for 53x49x22cm and 4kg. from Guelph, ON N1H 1C5

This is a beautiful player and I'm going to be spending a lot more to replace it in my system.

The Majik CD player replacement is much more expensive and uses an offshore drive instead of the Philips CD12 Pro that the Genki uses.

What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision, UK, July 2005,
"The Linn Genki remains a fave of ours after all this time. Masses of detail in a clean soundstage; taut and musical bass; involving overall character; great build and specification. The Genki's lengthy run at the top is no mean feat and part of its success is down to the machine's outstanding build." *****

Secrets of Home Theater & High Fidelity USA, February 2004,
"The Genki immediately impresses with its expertise at setting an expansive soundstage. Whereas some players tend to locate certain instruments at varying distances to the listener, the Linn consistently arranges instruments without favoritism. On occasion, the player surprised me with how far to the side an instrument could appear without feeling unbalanced level-wise. Aside from the exciting tonal separation, another delight was the cleanliness of the playback. Vocals were always of the highest quality and exacting….the tonal quality and spatial separation on well-produced recordings are spectacular. Needless to say, I find the Genki a capable and willing mid-priced CD player for those who don’t like compromise. I highly recommend giving this a strong consideration.."

Linn Genki CD Player (Group Test Winner), What Hi-FiSound & Vision, (UK) March 2003,
"We Liked it three years ago, and it's just as good today: the Linn Genki was clearly ahead of its time, so well does it stand up to more recent competition. When it comes to the sheer communication of the music, the Linn Genki's got what it takes."
