Depends who you ask. Tons of reviews out there with varying opinions. I think getting a good seal is critical for proper bass response, and partially attribute the differing opinions to people having different shaped ear canals, using different tips, getting proper fit, etc.
My honest assessment is they are decent but not earth shattering in the bass department. My SE530s have more bottom end, but at a much higher cost. But i find the E4Cs do produce an accurate detailed image, have killer lush mids, and a nice top end that I don't find fatiguing. Fantastic sounding phones really. Hard to beat for this price.
