1993 Gibson Nighthawk Custom Fireburst with ohsc. These are pretty rare.
I am mainly interested in trading this for a lightweight (<= 9.5lbs), well balanced fretless five string bass of equivalent value +/- cash. Types of basses I am interested in are Super jazzes (Warmouth, Carvin SB5000, Sadowsky, etc), Musicman, high end Ibanez, etc. Fretless can be with or without lines, but I will likely favor lined. Actually, run anything by me… the worst I could say is "no thanks".
The guitar is in very good to excellent condition (definitely not excellent though - there are minor scratches, swirls, oxidation and dings. Nothing serious and they don't show well in any of the pics, but I wouldn't want somebody selling this to me as excellent knowing what it looks like). The guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic. My band leader borrowed it recently and loved it as did the soundman. However, I just am not a guitarist and need a fretless bass for a project coming up.
This guitar has spent 98% of its life in its case under my bed and has some sentimental value (my wife may kill me for this) - it just doesn't get used and I don't like having instruments I don't use. I am the original owner and it has been in my position the whole time. The guitar is very light (I'd say much less than 8lbs although our scale is busted and thrown out) and I have had no issues with hum when in single-coil mode. I had the switching slightly modified to the following on the stock 5 position switch
1) Neck humbucker
2) Neck split coils
3) parallel both humbuckers (this setting didn't exist)
4) Bridge split coils
5) Bridge humbucker
The original switching had a huge volume drop as it had the single coils in parallel for one of the settings. I just didn't like the large volume drop. It could easily be changed back, but both humbuckers on is a *great sound* that I don't know why Gibson didn't make available.
I will through in a set of Schaller Straplocks if you are interested as well as the original strap buttons and trussrod key.
If you are interested in an outright sale, the guitar is worth $1100 but I am asking $1150 shipped and insured CONUS. These go for $1000-1200 on the used market so I think this is a fair deal.
