Old Bass Player Magazines

Sign in to disble this ad
I don't know if anybody has an interest in these or not, but I have most Bass Player magazines dating back to 1995. If anybody would like to buy a back issue (or a bunch of them), I'll sell them for $4.50 + shipping. I checked at the Post Office today, and sending a single issue was $2.02 in the U.S.. So if anybody wants any, just send me a U.S. Postal Money Order for $6.50. If Postal rates go up in the future, I might have to adjust the shipping a bit.

Here are the issues I have:

1995: July/August; Sept./Oct.; November; December. (Monthly issues started in November.)
1996: All 12 monthly issues.
1997: All 12 monthly issues.
1998: All 12 monthly issues.
1999: Two each of all 12 monthly issues except September. One September available. There was also a 13th bonus issue that year called "Fall 1999". The cover story for that extra issue was, "70 Ways To Play Better Now".
2000: Two each of all 12 monthly issues except December. One December issue available.
2001: All 12 monthly issues.
2002: All 12 monthly issues.
2003: All 12 monthly issues.
2004: All 12 monthly issues.
2005: All months except March and October. I don't have them.
2006: All 12 monthly issues.
2007: All months except May.
2008: All months except December (which I haven't received yet! )

If anybody wants an entire year's worth, or more than one issue, P.M. me. Maybe we can work something out. If you just want one issue, you can P.M. me to see if it's still available. If so, I'll provide you with my address to which you can send the M.O.. Once received, I'll send out your issue ASAP. Thanks.

Jeff

Hey Evan. P.M. returned. I still have all but 3 of the issues on your list.

Do any of the issues have ZZ Top's LeGrange tabbed?

Hey Cat. I don't remember off the top of my head. It would take quite awhile for me to look through each issue. So instead, I just sent off an e-mail to Bass Player magazine asking if they could check their databases to see if it was ever transcribed; and if so, which issue.

If they give me a reply, and it WAS done in one of their issues, then I can check to see if I still have that particular issue. Of course if it never appeared in any issue, I guess we're just out of luck. If I find out anything, I'll get back to you either way.

Well, I had thought it was in one of this years issues but I already tossed it thinking that I would not need that song....then my guitarist says Hey let's do that song. Oh fudge. Now I need it. Lemme know what you find. Thanks!

I glanced at the covers for this past year and didn't see it. If Bass Player ever replies to my e-mail, I might have a better starting point.

Meanwhile, if any other T.B.'er happens to know off-hand, feel free to chime in. Bluesy Cat is looking for a Bass Player issue in which ZZ Top's "La Grange" was transcribed. If anybody knows which issue it was in, please let me know. Thanks.

Uh....I'm pretty sure this is "bass related".
"Accessories" would probably have been a much better spot for this.

...I'm just sayin'

Thanks. I did ask a mod before I started the thread, but never got a reply. So I posted it here. To me, "Bass Related" means related to the instrument itself. I didn't think it applied there. If any mod sees this and feels it should be moved, please let me know.

Bump. Also, I don't currently have all the issues shown in my original post. But the post is so old that it will not allow me to edit it as specific issues sell. So if anybody is interested in specific issues, just ask and I'll let you know if I still have them. Thanks.

It would help a lot if you knew which issues they were. I don't mind glancing through them when I get some time if you're seriously interested.

I've actually done that for a couple people who were looking for something specific, but didn't know the dates of the issues. After finding what they were looking for and letting them know, they'd say, "Oh, thanks dude. I don't want to buy them - I was just curious."

I'll try to look through them tomorrow.

Okay, I finally got a chance to glance at the covers (back to 1995). It's possible that I missed some, but here's what I found. Of course if you know of any specific issues, I can always check to see if I still have them.

Nov. 1997: The Lemon Song transcript of John Paul Jone's bassline. (Not a cover story.)
Oct. 1998: What Is And What Should Never Be transcript of J.P.J's bassline. (Not a cover story.)
Sept. 1999: John Paul Jones cover story.
March 2002: J.P.J. article. (Not a cover story.)
Nov. 2005: Killer Queen transcript of John Deacon's bassline.

Let me know which ones, if any, you want. Thanks.

Jeff
