I discovered that it’s called a “Les Paul” because of the wood (mahogany back and neck, maple top), construction (neck through) and pickup configuration (2 Humbuckers). Bought this from a reputable music store that I worked at for several years.
This is a gorgeous, reliable, easy to play and amazing sounding guitar. I’m sure you’ve heard that before picking up many a unsatisfying instrument. Let me describe the guitar to you “by the numbers” to help illustrate why this is an amazing value.
Sound: The pickups are Duncan designed, specifically calibrated for this model. Simple electronic controls (volume, tone, 3 way switch). This creates a very clear, balanced tone (though a bit more dark than bright) that is highly dynamic and versatile; you’ll get clear, bell like clean, gritty low gain, and super tight, rich high gain sounds when mated with a decent amp in any of those categories. And because of the neck through construction and high quality hardware, you’ll get sustain for days.
Cosmetics: The top is exquisitely flamed maple, while the back, sides and neck are all stained. The color is between orange and yellow, though definitely more orange. The body binding appears to be tortoise shell., and the dot markers appear to be the same. Dark ebony fingerboard. The bridge, tuners, volume and tone knobs, strap buttons and all screws are gold colored. You end up with an instrument that is majestic without being gaudy.
Reliability/Playability: All the hardware has proven to be high quality. Grover tuners have never given me tuning problems. The bridge (probably Grover, but I’m not sure) is the same way. Fret work is excellent, and the neck is straight and “healthy”. Never have had tuning or electronic issues with this guitar (or any issues for that matter).
Condition: Granted that I’m not a professional guitar appraiser, I’d call it near mint. There are a few very small scratches on the back of the guitar, and perhaps you could find them elsewhere on the guitar if you looked REALLY hard. But other than that and some very minor fret wear, it’s pristine. It would definitely could be pased off as “New Old Stock” at a guitar store. Will come with a tremolo bar.
Gig Bag: Branded as “Switch”, it’s actually quite nice and also in near mint condition. Soft, thick padding. A couple pockets in front. Carry handle and “backpack” style straps. What more do you need?
As I no longer play guitar and am about to invest heavily in some bass gear, it's time to move her.
