I have a Kaman GTX23 6-string electric guitar that I would trade.
Pictures first:::
The covers here are removed to show details - I have them both and they too are primo! You can see the only flaw on the guitar in this pix: the baked enamel inside the relief area of the GTX logo plate is a little chipped and it has been blacked-out with a marking pen. The chrome however, is still perfect!
I see the camera found some dust that I missed. That will be removed before any trade is done!
Here you can see the whammy bar installed - I left it out of the other pixs for reasons that I don't remember. Prolly just forgot, that's all.
This is a 1987-89 Kayman GTX23 guitar with the OLP Schaller factory-installed locking tremolo back-loaded black-out bridge and matching locking black-out top nut assembly. When this whammy is used, the strings return to the same tune every time.
I honestly give this guitar a score of
9.9♥/10♥ since it has seen no gigs and no RW or buckle rash on it at all.
If there are any dings on this guitar, I can't find them - and I just waxed it and nothing was noted.
Intonation and string height is very good - as I want it, but that's all adjustable.
Pots are clean and I have not heard any scratchy sound from them yet. I clean the body cavities and they are spotless. Wiring is
primo and solder is clean and bright.
All original - and not all of the GTX23s had the same bridge as this one does - it's an expensive option on the GTX line.
The finish is pretty close to perfect with just some hand wear on the back of the neck and a small stand scratch on the neck back too.
Fingerboard is super smooth and clean : frets show NO WEAR at all.
Honestly a great player and full of life. It has recent EB Slinkies on it (08's) - but I don't have the dexterity to play a 6-er any more. So it sits in it's bag, hanging in my closet.
I keep all my gear in pristine condition and this GTX is no exception.
It has a heavy Fender gig bag for the trade if what you have has one in return.
OK - what I want:::
I do not want to even tell anyone this is worth a full-on Fender MiA or maybe even a MiJ/CiJ bass.
The GTX is a rare bird out of the same factory as Ovation and a lot of the stuff that Fender bought out in about 2007 or so. Kaman is a very big name in serious gear and has been since about 1968 or so with the Ovation bowl-back acoustic/electric guitars (like Glen Campbell had).
Kaman is THE largest contract musical instrument and electronics manufacturer in the US --- and the world.
About ten years ago, these were selling for $300-350.00. They are now very rare, but I don't know if it's worth much more than that. I have Googled for these and there aren't any of them left that are easy to find right now. You may find some references to it, but not much more than that.
My oldest son was the first owner of this one in about 1987 or so when I bought two of these and I re-inherited this blue one when he died in a car accident in 1992. The black twin of this GTX went to another son and he plays that one regularly in Montana.
If you have a
very clean Fender/Squier P/J or some sort - which I prefer - or an Ibanez 400 series & up - or you have some bass-related electronics you want to trade, let me know.
I've changed the conditions for the trade a little so I guess this is really a modified bump too.
