Vantage Guitar Amp mini project and cheap!

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is a small Vantage guitar amp Model VG10 being sold as a project.

Being a devout player of all brands Matsumoku, I recently bought this amp. I don't think it was made at the Matsumoku factory but rather it was made in the later era, most likely at the Samick factory in Korea.

Here is the project aspect of this sale: The amp was described as powering up but the seller had no guitar so I bought it figuring I would give it a try as I usually do fine in these types of situations.

Well when arrived and I was afraid to plug it in because the male end of the plug appears to be an industrial grade replacement that was spliced on and held on by a screw, and the end that connects to the amp (it is hard wired) was taped in really old electrical tape. Silly of me I know, since it didn't electrocute the seller but I have two small kids around.

Anyway, I was refunded a significant portion of my money and was going to just throw this out thing but I realized that replacing the chord is not an involved project at all for one who knows how to solder. I just don't have the time to leatn how to solder and I hate to waste so I thought I would put it for sale up here as a project. This amp gets decent reviews and I think with a little sweat equity it will be a good little amp for someone.

Price is $20 which is basically enough to cover my shipping cost via USPS and paypal fees. The amp itself is in very nice aesthetic condition as you can see. I did not take snaps of the spliced plug-- these are the sellers pics as I don't have a camera with me at the moment.

If you have any questions please PM or email me through TB. Pics are below. Thanks for looking.

You can buy a plug at any hardware store that the three wires screw in, very simple fix for 2$ you can have a working amp.

Hold the phone here! The amp is an export model, 240 volts ac, according to the rating plate. Won't work here on 120. Unless there's something else I'm missing here.....

This question is well beyond my "pay grade." Honestly I have no idea.

The amps WAS fitted wtih the plug attachedable by screwdriver as mentioned in the thread above and is supposedly in working condition inasmuch as it powers up.

I have no idea about its powerage and ratings. I was just under the impression that whoever got this amp would want to better fit it with a new power plug altogehter but it may be fine as it.

As you can tell, I have no idea how this stuff works so I am sorry if I am not being too helpful here.

Not being a wise-guy! That voltage just jumped out at me. May be a typo too, but that seems unlikely. Still a cool project at a cooler price!

I still have this and would hate to trash this. Anyone interested? Trades for other accessories?
