All The Things You Are

I'm currently trying to learn All The Things You Are but I am struggling a little with the arrangement. According to my real book it has 3 sections A, B and C which it runs through repeatedly. Is this correct, or have I misunderstood it (probably the case as I am very new to this "jazz" thingy)?

Cheers

Speedrabbit.

Speedrabbit,

You've got it exactly right....

Hey, I just uploaded a couple of bass lines for this tune for you. Who's your buddy?? Who's your pal?? Ha!

Anyway....

One is a simple line I've written...The other is a transcription of Todd Coolman playing on a Jamey Aebersold CD....it's one of my favorite bass lines of all time. FWIW, Todd Coolman is one of my favorite bass players. Great stuff!!!

Have fun with this.... Happy to help!!!

Blimey! There's service. Thanks very much Todd. Plenty to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks there. Could you also recommend any particular versions of All The Things You Are? I'm currently trying to play along to a version by Jimmy Heath.

Also is it possible to order your Walking Bass Line Module System from the UK?

Many thanks

Speedrabbit.

Speedrabbit,

Hey, I just attached a simple little play along for "All the things" for you. Enjoy!! The price is right!...

Yes!!! You can order my DVD's directly from my website. Go to www.toddjohnsonmusic.com and got to the STORE. Just click your way through and you're in business. With the set up I have I can ship and sell "almost" everywhere. I've had numerous orders from the UK and (so far) no problems!!

Just let me know how I can be of help.

Thanks for that Mr Johnson. You're a great help as usual. Another 10 years of practising and I might even pluck up the courage to try and actually play some jazz with some real, live musicians.

That is so cool Todd, you wouldn't have that arrangement written up or something like it?

In the second post of this thread, Todd attached a couple of PDFs with chords and basslines for this tune.

I know what I am refering to is the chord-melody chord voicings, that is a real nice arrangement. A lot could be learned from that piece.

DocBop,

Thanks for the kind words......

Sorry, that's just some chord comping I did off the top of my head. It's not written down, ....but you know what ....transcribing it might be a good assignment for you!

I expect to have it on my desk by Friday!! Just joking!

I'll have to write some of that stuff down one of these days....the trouble is finding the time. Sorry about that.
