You electric players all need to stop whining and just go play some Van Halen.

But seriously.. I think if a player has good feel it shouldn't matter when they play upright, electric, organ, or tuba in the jazz setting. Well.. maybe not tuba

Funnily enough, at a jam session a few weeks ago our band hatched a dastardly tuba scheme!

When it was time for the alto player to take her solo, everyone else fell out and it was just her soloing with the trombone player walking a line on the tuba. Sounded awesome actually, the crowd went nuts and we were all gasping for air we were laughing so hard.
