Hi Todd,

I have a question regarding the place of the bassist in a small band. I play as a bassist with a choir, and the orchestra is pretty much like your trio : keyboard, drum , bass . How , in your opinion should a bassist stand in the middle of such a band, just accompaniement, or can he do some extra ? It's a small choir also (10 singers or so)

I suspect it'd be "mostly" a supportive/traditional role in that situation.

I guess it depends on the song and the arrangement too....But mostly supportive. Make sure to run it past the Musical director before doing anything too crazy....probably a good idea.

I hope this helps....
