New Zon TJ6, any news?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Todd - anything to report from NAMM? I've done some searches but haven't found any news. I know that Joe was working on a new headless TJ6 32" scale and would like to see a review since that is exactly what I have been wanting to have built. Thanks!

HI Todd,

I was talking to Joe Zon about a possible 33" scale and he mentioned your new one is a 32". Did you take delivery yet? I'd be anxious to hear your impressions in regard to:

* difference in feel compared to the 34"
* tightness of the B string
* clarity of the B
* did you have to change the gauge of your strings?

Thanks!
-Andy

Dear Andy,

Rumor has it that the bass should ship this Friday March 2nd.

I'll definitely post as much info as possible.....as soon as possible.

I've heard it's headless... is this true?

Yes...its headless...32 inch scale...Aguilar preamp...radiused bartolini pickups....

Body is made of Guana Costa....its an exotic / lighter weight version of Alder.

The top is Myrtlewood....

Its a set neck this time which allow more and easier access to the upper range.....plus we've sanded a "little bit here" and a "little bit there" and improved the access....

My original bass weighs in at 10.1 pounds......this one looks like it will be right about 8 pounds or less.

I received a few photos from Joe today....we're looking REALLY GOOD!!! He hopes to send it to me late this week or early next week.

I'll definitely post all the information and pictures as soon as I can......STAY TUNED!!

Now I just have to learn how to play it.

Will this bass be a "one of" or a new one in the family?

I've found that the Internet makes my patience drop to a max of two days. Must learn to control that. Heh.

I think he got the bass and picked up a box of a dozen donuts from Dunkin Donuts. He's been locked in a room for a week and a half playing non stop with a powdery donut smile. Eventually the strings will wear out and he'll remember this thread.

Nothing to report yet, guys. Todd's still waiting for the bass (it IS really close), and has been busy gigging, etc. I'm sure he'll check in soon...

The last I heard the satin finish is now done.

The fret work is done.

Rumor has it that she's being assembled on Monday....

We're almost there.....hold on. Patience Grasshopper!!!

I promise I'll post as soon as I have it.
