recomend me a 6 string bass

Hello I just recently started to play bass but I want to start as soon as possible to play 6 strg bass.What is the best buying?the price limit is 1500 euros.

Hi ktulu,

I'm not sure how much 1500 euros is.....but there should be several good basses in that price range for you to learn on.

Ibanez makes a decent 6 string for the money.

You could use the rest of the money to take lessons. That will do you a tremendous amount of time and effort.

Then in a year or two you can upgrade to a higher level instrument.

I have had several Yamaha TRB 6's, all from the early 90's. If you get lucky you can score one in good shape for 900. - 1100.USD. The older ones are all 34 scale, some have the piezo bridge which is OK, but to me, not essential. I have played a couple that were modded-out with Barts and they were REALLY nice-sounding basses. Get the neck-through version if you can.

Hey, thanks!! Well, it works both ways....I rave about Tim Emmons. You're extremely fortunate to have him as a teacher. I'm at the Gaslamp in Long Beach tonight with Frank Potenza....then at Steamers next Thursday with Ron Eschete....please come say "hi".

1500 EU is roughly $2200 US. that is not a bad place to
start by any means. If you are patient, you can get lots
of good deals on 'boutique' basses besides some of what
has been posted already.

you do not mention where you are located, but if you should
import a bass, you will pay shipping and probably some duty
on it. That may consume $3-450US on your side. Still at
$1800 US, lots to choose from I suspect.

As a sidenote, I dunno what he paid in duty on an artificially
lowballed declared cost, but I shipped a bass in a heavy
hardcase with tons of packing to India for a guy here, and it
ran $360 or so...

over in the eu you can probably get a status at a reasonable price .. under what you are talking look at statii.com .. there are a number of euro forums that might be more use to you so you won't have to cough up as much for shipping and import .. are you close to the land of the big brown warwick ?

With this money you could purchase a Stambaugh. A number of my students own Stambaugh 6-stringers and they are FIRST CLASS.

GREAT advice!! The Stambaugh's are GREAT instruments. I can't believe I didn't think of that......Duh!!

Thanks for the teaching plug.....but if Dan was really smart he'd come enjoy New Hampshire and study with you. That's what I'd do!!
