What is your opinion on the importance of a tweeter in a bass amp?

Argee,

It depends on the sound you are looking for. I've never felt a need for a tweeter but, then again, I mostly used my Hartke aluminum cone speaker until I bought my Phil Jones and Accugroove speakers. The Hartke, being aluminum, has a bright sound anyway and the Phil Jones uses full range speakers in their cabs. My Accugroove has tweeters but they aren't harsh or anything. They are sometimes described as "polite". I like a nice, clear sound but not overly bright, so, like I said, I've never needed tweeters but I'm not going to remove the ones in my Accu cab because they sound just fine.

Again, it all depends on the sound you are looking for and, of course, the other equipment you are using.

My Accugroove cab has a tweeter and I love it. It gives me a "full range" type of sound without being harsh. Plus it's a "top shelf" tweeter.....not an "el-cheapo" like a lot of cabs.

So, I'm all for a tweeter in a bass cab....That's my personal opinion.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Accugroove cabs.

I hope this helps.

Have fun!!!

+1 on the tweeters in the Accugroove cabs. Before getting my Accugrooves I had cabinets with compression drivers for the high end and they were very harsh. I had turned a friend in Reno to Accugroove and he thought that when he was on stage he wasn't getting enough high end. I sat in with his equipment and he realized from an audience standpoint that it was what he would want going out to the crowd.
