Hey Todd, I'm a big fan of yours, and can't wait for your book on chord performance on BG comes out. While I'm waiting for that to come out I've experimented a great deal with creating my own systems, and I was wondering how similar they are to what you do. Here's a thread from General Instruction that contains links to the youtube lessons. Thanks a lot, man.

Hi Havic5,

Man, you've put a lot of thought into this. You're information is all correct....although it's a lot to digest in a few minutes!! WOW! Ha! Keep up the good work!! You've got it surrounded!!!

Personally, I don't think in terms of Drop 2 voicings....sorry about that.

I tend to work "mostly" in 3 note "rootless" voicings for chord melody. For bass with Chords and melody sometime it's a matter of grabbing what you can! Ha! I know you can relate!!

I'm very concerned with the "thickness" of a chord....so having four notes in a row gets a little thick for my tastes unless it's in the way upper registers. But this is just what I do and like.

Hey, you go to Berklee...right??? You should talk to my dear friend Jim Stinnett. He can give you some insight into what we're doing.

I'm going to be back in New Hampshire/Boston area in:
November 2008 to work on books and videos with Jim....
January 2009 for one of Jim's Bass Workouts....
March 2009 to work on books and videos....
June 2009 for the NH BassFest....
October 2009 for a TJ Chord Melody Bass Workout with Jim...

So we should hook up sometime while I'm back there.....

Feel free to drop me an email at my personal address todd@toddjohnsonmusic.com and we can set something up....we should at least meet and have a coffee etc.

Cool??? Cool........

Keep up the great work.

Warm regards,
