Thumbs up 1888 Joseph Bohmann fiver.

Fairly well known bass around here. Gorgeous 1888 Joseph Bohmann five string (low B), 7/8 double bass for sale. I bought the bass in 1977 and am the first player/owner due to an estate squabble.
Triple purfling, double ebony inlays down the back plate, five piece neck/scroll (three curly maple and two ebony). Mother of pearl eyes in the scroll tips. Fingerboard laid over the side to accomodate low B string and too much more to go into detail here. Recordings/videos available under TBDB recordings forum also by Googling my name.
Pics, below.
$25,000. Firm.
EDIT: the reason it says 1915 on the cast iron machines is that they were patented and added to the bass at that date.

Guy's got zero feedback, and he's looking for 25 large? Tall order.

Kidding aside, your bass is...I don't have the words. This has gotta hurt, and I wish you well.

Thanks for your concern, ya'll.

Had a tough year with spinal surgery followed by a respiratory infection that kept my off gigs.
This is just something that has to be done for financial reasons.
Bijoux, i'll get something to play to get back in after the sale.

Paul, hope you're doing better and keep getting better. Make sure the Berlin Phil bass section knows about this sale too.

Send me a flight case. I'll send you back a Joe German lammy to borrow until whenever. It's nothing great but it amplifies well. I'm not playing it right now and have had a lot of good fortune come my way this year so this would be a good time to pay some things forward.

Get better; be better. I wish you didn't have to part from this unique bass which you are so attuned-to.

You'd sound amazing on anything, PW, but it's some sad to see that put to the test.

This's great and thanks, man, but my luthier here in Denver, Bob Ross, will keep me covered with a loaner until I find one that I like enough to buy.

Thanks again for all the nice remarks and concern.
