1948 American Standard 2 Attachment(s) For Sale is one hell of a bass. I am currently selling a 1948 American Standard plywood double bass. For those of you familiar with these basses, you will know that it's very rare to find one that's never had any neck problems. WELL, this bass has never had a neck break, and is in very good condition. Everything except the tailpiece cable and endpin are original and the bass has never had any structural breakage or problems. the bass has recently been setup by Sprocket at David Gage, with the fingerboard planed, a pecanic tailpiece chord and a New Harmony carbon fiber endpin added. Sonically this bass is a beast, with a nice loud, round, even sound throughout, and a great feel to boot. This is one of those basses that when I bring it to gigs, everyone is startled that it's acoustic. It plays great from the low E all the way up to the tip of the fingerboard, and bows just as well as it pizzes. It's a bummer that I have to sell the bass, but I have a tiny apartment, and I just got a fantastic fully carved upton, and I need to make some room. Dimensions: Upper Bout: 21 1/8 inches Lower Bout: 26 inches String Length: 43 1/2 (currently cheated up to 42 1/4) inches Body Length: 44 inches Current Bridge Height: 6 1/4 (w/ adjusters) I am currently asking for $4000 for this American Standard that's never had any breaks. I am in Brooklyn, and would be happy to show the bass, and if you want to make me an offer, please go right ahead! |
