I thought I would still use this bass occasionally after I bought my new instrument, but sadly it just sits in the corner. It has survived two winters in New England and only needed routine seam repairs, so it seems to be well acclimated to the humidity changes in this part of the country. Fully carved top, back and sides. It has a new soundpost and adjustable bridge from Arnold Schnitzer, and a C extension by Jon van Kouwenhoven. More importantly, it sounds great! I'm asking $5000 firm (what I paid for it new WITHOUT the low C, new bridge/soundpost). I've included a picture of the extension - more pictures coming soon!

[edit] As promised, more photos...

I really hate to sell it, it's a great instrument... just wish it was getting used.

Lovely bass! Is this a solid carved top, back & sides?

it's been a great instrument for me. plenty of sound, easy to play... basically unbeatable for the price. I shopped around A LOT when I bought it and couldn't find anything I liked better.

What bass replaced this? How does the timbre change as you move down the e string from a to c? Would you say this bass is loud? Even?

Also, would you be interested in a trade plus cash money?

probably not interested in trade plus cash, but it depends on what you're offering. i bought a new bass from christopher savino to replace this one. i would describe this bass as having both even tone and plenty of volume. the sound is pretty focused and direct. thanks for your interest!

Upright Bass

Hey,
I'm up in Boston, and have been patiently waiting for a local bass to upgrade from my two hybrids. I'm playing a wedding in Hartford next sat 11/26. I was hoping I could check the bass out then. Let me know if that's a possibility.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I will be coming back from Montreal that day, but I could potentially meet you in the evening if you want. I'll PM you my phone number so we can talk about it more. Thanks for your interest!

This is a mighty tempting offer. How does the bass fare with low tension strings like Eudoxa's and Gamuts (unwound)?

haven't tried it, but i think low tension is better for this bass in general. too bad you didn't get to me sooner, i was just in montreal a couple weeks ago!
