Small separation on the lower bout, which I am getting fixed this week.

Hi mileyj, Im very curious as to how you are having the open seam repaired. From what Ive been told by Bruce Johnson (known as the Ampeg Baby Bass expert here in CA), open seams on these can not be repaired due to the Uvex materiel not allowing any glue to bind to it.
It's my fathers bass, and I believe his plan was to have someone epoxy and then clamp the bass together. The repair hasn't been done yet and it doesn't effect the bass at all, he can not do the repair if you're interested in the instrument.
I'm researching the best way to repair the crack. any good links or opinions. I was thinking good marine black epoxy, and lots of strap clamps.
If you are interested in the bass un repaired we can work it out.
From what I understand, there are no ways to repair the open seams. No epoxy or glue will bind to the Uvex - it may bind temporarily, but always comes apart.
Well, the separation doesn't affect playability or tone. This bass still rocks, and honestly since its on the bottom of the bass its hard to see unless you're looking for it.
It really plays spectacularly, but my dad just can't ever seem to keep a 5 string around. He's more of a 4 string guy.
This puppy is sold!
