Azola Bug Bass with Flight Case

SOLD
For sale is my Azola Bug Bass which comes with both a gig bag and an Azola flight case. This is a perfect traveling bass for an upright bassist! $1995

This is a really wonderful instrument. It is 41.5" scale, very comfortable to play, and has a great sound with both punch and sustain. Not too "fretlessy", but not thuddy either. Arco is surprisingly good. I used it on a tour in Russia with Donna Ulisse this past summer and it performed very well. Soundmen were very pleased with the direct sound.

I am the 2nd owner, so I don't have all the details about the bass. I purchased it from Nashville Used Music around a year ago. It has a beautiful flamed maple top, an onboard preamp with 2 band EQ (on the back side of the bass), the pickup is built into the bridge. I think it is a second generation Azola Bug, I've seen earlier ones with a boxier body shape. The bass is in very good condition, there is some wear and a few minor dings in spots, but overall very good. It is currently strung with a nearly new set of Spirocore Solo Gauge strings (tuned at regular pitch). These have been my favorites, I've also used Velvet Garbos w/Oliv D which was also nice.

The bass in the case weighs right around 50 lbs. The case (at the widest point) is 60" X 15" X 13".

I will meet a buyer within 75 miles of Nashville for pickup. I am happy to ship, but buyer must pay shipping costs. Tell me where and how you want it shipped and I'll get you a quote. By UPS Ground, I'd estimate $75-$100 in the CONUS, but dont quote me on that

Unfortunately, my wife will be having minor surgery in January and will need to take time off from work. January is not a busy time for me, so I need to sell some gear to get ready. I hate to see this go, it's a great bass. Also, as you may know, Azola has suspended production on these and they are becoming collectable. Many folks think these are the best EUBs made, and I'll agree!

$1995 Buyer pays shipping. I accept Paypal

Here are some pics of me playing it in Russia and also the cases.

The Azola is much easier than playing one of these!

Travels easier too!

Should I assume you are not interested in trades? I have coveted an Azola for a long time, but, I understand if "cash is king",

I'm tempted. Azola quoted me $950 for the flight case alone while they were still offering them.

Yes! The flightcase hasn't been made for some time I believe. The pickup is whatever was used on that vintage, I don't really know. The element is built into the wooden bridge. It sounds very good, very even.

Sorry,I can't do any trades. I would keep this if I could, but we've been met with some unexpected expenses, and I'm only selling it for needed funds.

BTW, for an example, I entered the weight and dimensions at the UPS website, using Nashville to Philly (830 miles) Shipping was around $69 by UPS Ground

In some of those pics, I have a little clip-on tuner attached to the bridge. In case you were wondering, that's not part of the bass.

Very nice looking! Does it come with a bow, by chance (french)? Do you have some sound clips you could post or email? Thanks...Mike Lang

I own one bow, German and I'm afraid its not included with the Azola package. Headed out of town tonight but I will try and post some clips after the holidays.
