Time to clear some space! I'm not using my Leon Aubert bass since I got my Kay, so it's time to let it go. Here's the specs -
Leon Aubert R-21 laminated bass
3/4 size, blonde finish
Ebony fingerboard / tailpiece
Adjustable bridge
Recent setup (planed fingerboard, adjusted neck angle, etc)
Braided steel tailpiece hanger cable
Canvas gig bag with fleece lining
New Hamilton stand
Apparently the list price for these basses is $1200 to $1500, and I've put a couple of hundred dollars into upgrades and maintenance, so that's good.
Now the down side. Last year the neck got broken a few inches below the nut. It was professionally repaired by my luthier who did a superb job, and it's completely stable. We took this opportunity to shim the neck below the fingerboard to adjust the overstand, which made it a much nicer bass to play. It does show a little scar tissue at the break, which is kinda hard to hide under the blonde finish. I used this as my weekly gigging bass for a year after the repair, and had no issues whatsoever. You can see the repair in the last pic. Just to clarify, the dark line at the bottom of the headstock is just fluff from the inside of the gig bag, it's not any kind of damage or part of the neck repair!
So, I'm looking for $800 ish, and I can ship it if necessary. I'm located about 90 miles NW of Chicago if anyone wants to look it over or pick it up.
Cheers,
Tony
