| Bows For Sale, Rodney Mohr and Gilles DuHaut Two very fine french bass bows for sale in order to fund purchase of new bass.
The first is made by Rodney D. Mohr, and is a heavy and powerful bow particularly good for the orchestral repertoire. It has a strong stick and wide band of hair and draws a very loud and even sound, with great heavy spiccato. It weighs around 150g but that is with a rubber on the frog, so actual weight a bit under. This has been advertised on talkbass before, but I withdrew it after falling in love with it again!
I bought the bow about four years ago for just over £3000 and am just looking to recover that.
The second bow is a lighter bow my by Gilles DuHaut, that weighed about 135g, again with the rubber on. It was designed for playing on a Laborie Quenoil model, and as well as being great at the rabbathy strokes I have been surprised at how much I have used it orchestrally, particularly for mozart and Haydn type things. It draws a very resonant sound and has a very even spiccato.
Am again looking to regain what I paid which i believe was also around £3000.
Both bows have been maintained by the Parisian bow maker Boris Fritsch. Don't be deterred by my location (UK) has have strong links with many American bassists!
Sorry for the lack of photos, unfortunately had my laptop stolen but have them saved on my iPhone so can send them to any email address.
