| Czech made 3/4 Strunal Upright Bass 1999 Czech made Strunal 50/4 Upright Bass
A great sounding “broken in” (large) 3/4 sized bass. This bass has been played in orchestras, jazz and folk groups in music venues and recording studios all around the country. I first had it as a student in college, but have played it professionally for the last 10 years or so. I have taken very good care of it.
All upgrades and work in the past 5 years have been done by master luthier Mario Lamarre. It features his set up with an adjustable bridge, upgraded high quality no-slip endpin, and upgraded tailpiece cable.
It is strung with Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Weichs on the E, A, and D (which I’ve found to be amazing all-around strings) and a Pirastro Oliv on the G (steel wrapped gut core - $100 value – a VERY popular string). These strings were recently installed (3 months) and have a very good life span. I also have an old pack of Pirastro Obligatos if you’d like those instead.
It is installed with a fishman full circle pickup – I have tried many different kinds of pickups, and this is by far the most accurate sounding one (confirmed by many soundmen). I also still have the original wheels if you ever wanted to take it off.
Comes with a custom made high quality foam padded case. This case is the envy of all the bass players that have seen it, and it would cost $500 new. Lots of handles, padded bow holder, very solid padding – I’ve never had to worry about my bass while it’s in it’s case.
Normal wear and tear on the finish etc, but nothing major. This bass has been well taken care of for the 10 years I’ve owned it. I wipe it down after every gig and practise session, and regularly maintain it. It has never had any structural problems or major repairs. It is perfectly set up and ready to be played!
$3000 obo
Please conact me if you have any questions, or would like to come try it. (I live in Montreal Quebec)... I also have many more pictures of it, which I can email to you.
Thank you,
Kevin
