For sale in Atlanta (Marietta), GA

1979 Wilfer 3/4 size, hybrid, upright bass, gamba body. Round back, spruce top and maple veneer, laminate sides and ebony fingerboard. Perfect for the college student or professional who plays both jazz and orchestral music.
This bass is in excellent condition and has been well taken care of in a humidity controlled, smoke-free environment. A new bridge by Ron Sachs was added to the bass six years ago. The bass has no cracks or structural repairs in the body. It does have the wonderful sound of a seasoned bass made in 1979!
Tonally, the bass has a strong and rich midrange perfect for cutting through in either a jazz ensemble or orchestra. Sweet highs and a healthy but moderate bottom.
The bass comes with a Fishman, Full Circle, pickup already installed. The bass also comes with a Mooradian, soft case which is in like-new condition.
This bass was purchased six years ago from Ron Sachs' violin shop in Lilburn, GA for $6,800. Due to recession prices, I am forced to drop the price considerably and am willing to sell the bass, regrettably, for only $4,200. Paypal or cash only. Pics below, please email directly at mishbass@bellsouth.net

The front of head shot didn't come out too good but gives you a good idea.

Would it be possible to see some more photos? A good shot of the scroll and tuning gears would be nice.

If you would be interested in partial trade, I have decided to try to sell my 1977 stingray to raise money for an upright, although yours is a little higher end than I planned on . I am in ATL as well. Here is my post. I will cross post here as well.

1977 Music Man Bass + Vintage Grabber hardshell case

Hey stingray. Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass. I need cash. I have an EB MM 4 at home anyway. Not quite the same as your beautiful vintage but does the job.
Best wishes

Edward Swetlowsky is finishing a full set up on the bass today which includes reshaving and resetting the bridge and making a new sound post. Will post feedback on improved sound.

Picked up the bass today from Edward Svetlovsky (proper spelling) and the bass is considerably better both in playing ability and tone.
By adjusting and recutting the bridge the strings have less tension and the bass is easier to play. You can now also drop or raise the bridge with room to spare.
The new sound post positioned in a new and better location has brought out more low mid and bottom out of the bass. It also growls more.
The bass needs a new home and at $4,200 it's more than reasonably priced. A GREAT deal for a well known German maker.
Edward told me not to sell the bass because it was a good one made of good wood. I'm tempted to keep it but can use the funds.
