Hello everyone! I'm selling a late-1956 Kay M1. I originally bought the bass to fix up and use but already own a Kay O-100B and have since decided that I'd like to buy a hybrid/carved instrument instead.
Let me just say, the bass is in excellent shape but needs some simple routine work. There is a small blotch on the back and some bow dings on the G string side. Check out the pictures. The neck joint has never had to be repaired and is completely solid. Comes with an adjustable bridge, Fishman BP-100 pickup, TKL bag, student German bow, and metal foldable stand. String length is currently 41 3/4 inches.
The bass needs a setup, new endpin, and new strings unless you prefer old Spiro Weichs. Local pickup only, may consider meeting half way. Asking $2200. PM me for more info.
I just bought one from the same year, a week ago. Otherwise I'd be all over this. Bump for a great bass. If you're looking for a nice playing, reliable upright at a good price I recommend the old M-1's.
