Hi all,
It is time for me to sell my first bass in order to pay for my most recent upgrade.
The bass is an Engelhardt EM-1 model bass that was new when I purchased it from Dave Mansbridge 6 years ago. When purchased it had been setup and upgraded with a new bridge with adjusters, high quality ebony fingerboard, ebony tailpiece, steel cable tailpiece wire, new aluminum endpin, and the neck was expertly reshaped/had the the factory finished sanded off. Then later I added a Fishman Full Circle Pickup so I could use it as my Jazz instrument. I just got the instrument back from Mike Shank who gave the instrument a look over and set her up so that she is playing and sounding her best.
The bass has normal wear and tear to the finish but it by no means looks bad and structurally it is just as sound as when I bought her. I used this the bass for both classical and jazz work and can say from experience it would be an amazing starter instrument for either playing style and would definitely hold its own in more advanced jazz settings.
All the upgrades were appraised at $2000 added to a bass that costs 1100 new. I'm ready to let her go for $2800. I'm not interested in trades.
The bass is located in the Baltimore suburbs and with due notice I would be glad to come home from Peabody to show it. I'm really not interested in dealing with shipping but for the seriously interested buyer I'd be willing to meet somewhere within a reasonable distance to show the bass.
