Paesold 593 Double Bass *PRICE DROP*

Our son's double bass needs to find a new home--hopefully before tuition comes due this fall. I'm a fiddler, not a bassist, but when I've taken the instrument out, people have commented that it has a full sound and I sense that it might be particularly suited to jazz. We're happy to answer questions and provide photos. Just send a message.

Photos can be viewed at:

The details (from original bill of sale):

3/4 size; D neck
Helicore strings, ULSA "Massif" endpin

Quarter-sawn maple bridge with adjusters
Separate brass plate tuners with gears surrounding ebony "hatpin" type shafts

Also included:

French-style bow by Paesold. Silver-wrapped, fully lined, with Parisian eye

Shadow 950 pick-up

I think I've contacted everyone who sent me a note. I did it as soon as I discovered that my account wasn't set up to send me email notification of posts or private messages and, again, I'm sorry for that glitch.

The bass is still for sale!

Yes. We've been contacted by a number of people but only one has come to try it out and it's still for sale.

One question that comes up that I didn't mention in the first post is what repairs have been made to the instrument. No repairs have been made and when I last checked, the bass doesn't appear to have any cracks. We're pretty careful to keep it in a humidified room during the winter.

Here's a link to a Picasa album with photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/cynthia...eat=directlink

Thanks for reading!

Just want to get the word out once more than the bass is still available and we've dropped the price to $5900. It's a nice instrument and really needs a new home. If you're interested, please contact me to make arrangements to come play it so it can speak for itself. Thanks.

I don't know the seller, and have never seen this instrument.
But I'd sell almost all the gear I own before I'd let go of my Paesold 593.

It makes me smile to remember the gig I played with our Jazz Quartet: Singer, Keyboard, and Electric Guitar. At the end of the night, I realized I forgot to turn my combo amp on.

Thanks for the kind words about Paesold basses!

Except for a car, this bass is the nicest thing we've ever purchased. We had a little extra money at the time our son was bass shopping and he ended up having more expensive tastes than we'd anticipated but we decided to splurge. Everywhere I've taken it, people have commented positively on the sound.

Our son doesn't play it anymore and it's much too much bass for me to use. (I'm an old time fiddler.) We're selling it for two reasons: 1) We need the money, and 2) the bass really needs to be played regularly by someone who appreciates it.

I don't post here, but I'm "ajisai" over on Fiddle Hangout if anyone would like to know more about the seller. : )

Looks nice, would you consider shipping to NYC?

I think I'd be nervous about shipping the bass (although I'm sure it's done all the time) but we might consider driving it at least part way. Send me a private message, if you'd like.

We dropped the price of the bass because we were hoping it would help it to sell quickly. It didn't, so it's time for the sale price to expire. We will honor that price through January 15 for people who have previously expressed interest in the bass, but the current price is now $6500 negotiable. Thanks!
