| | | | Wan Bass Maybe if it was played-in by a famous musician.....Occasionally one does see a used bass with an asking price of more than retail, but used basses of recent vinatge these days sell for about 50-75% of what they go for new (if they sell at all).
Now if you're talking a 50+year old bass, then yes, they do sell for more than the initial retail price, largely due to inflation and the superior quality of the wood and the construction methods used in the distant past.
My guess is that this bass will not sell until it's priced accordingly. I may be wrong, but good luck either way. |

Kevin, the bass has value added: a higher quality fingerboard was installed (forgot to mention this before) and the bass comes with a Mooradian deluxe bag. It's also well played in and plays and sounds great. Shipping is also not included in the retail price you are referring to.
That said, I'm sure the seller is open to offers so come take a look if you're in the market! |

A fine Wan, ready to go! Remember, offers will gladly be entertained. Sound samples: Wan Bernadel sound samples by crowsmen on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
Even if you don't want the bass, feel free to critique my playing.

You're pretty close to my home town in Ontario.. if I manage to sell my bass this semester, I might travel down to see ya.

I'll probably make another sample or two when I have time and actually place the recorder in a flattering place rather than just right in front of the thing on autogain setting.
You're welcome any time, I've got a comfy foldout futon and I'm happy to serve as a traveling bass player hotel. |

Imho the issue is in a grey zone.
I've seen plenty of classified threads where the seller is way out of whack -- either in his price, or in description/claims about his item.
In those cases there's often a clamour of semi-sarcastic replies, serving to highlight the generally perceived unreasonableness of the deal offered.
Those kinds of "bubble-popping" responses don't get frowned upon, because they may keep newbies/innocents from getting mislead or taken to the cleaners.
When the deal offered is not wildly out of line, then yes, etiquette dictates giving the benefit of the doubt to the seller.
I call this a grey zone, because the guy who questioned the price (one Kevin. H.) probably thought he was doing a service by underlining what appeared to him to be an unreasonable asking price.
Anyway, he was gracious when cautioned, and now knows to back off when the offer is not blatantly outrageous. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
