I inherited my Father's bass. I was told he purchased it in the 30's and it was supposedly made in Czechoslovakia. The internal label say reproduction of Fecil Markneukirchen. Also says Neuersur (sp?) Beyer from 1723.
Dad played professionally in a quartet for many years. I play piano and played Saxophone in school, but don't know much about the string bass.
Aside from the personal value of the bass, is this a collectible instrument? The sound is very rich and suprisingly powerful in our house. Any information on this instrument would be very helpful. It is in good condition considering the age and has a rounded back. Also has a bow and extra set of strings, and extra bridge.
Thanks in advance.
