Hi.
I've been a massive music lover all my life (awarded a Rolling Stones Mag during HS graduation, been to 200+ concerts, worked in Vegas as security for 100+ of music events & have a large rock music collection). But....., it wasn't until my kids were old enough and started to get into music that I decided Dad should set an example and take up playing as well.
Last summer I did that, and although I learn/progress at like 1/10th what the kids do I've had a great time and found a new hobby that's extremely cheap compared to other hobbies I've had over the years.
I currently take lessons from a very well respected and talented musician here in Vegas whom plays upright bass, electric bass (of course), electric guitar, as well as piano. He teaches all of these as well.
I'm in pretty good hands but I'm still finding it difficult to learn as old dogs and new tricks, well you know the saying.

Also, I think my biggest impediment, besides finding the time to practice enough, is that I've never been a creative person so my brain isn't really tuned (no pun intended) to adapt to playing music easily. However, because of that fact, learning an instrument is probably one of the better things I could be doing for my brain.
I've been lurking on the site for a few months and have used it many times for researching things I don't know (which are many). Decided it was time to chime in since I had to post my first question this weekend.
