42 Year Old - New Bass Player

Actually, I'm 43 now and have been playing (if you can call it playing) for exactly 10 months.

I never done this before - Posting on any forum(s). I discovered this web site and felt this is like a Fraternity of Bass Players. I really like this Arena.

My gear is currently a Geddy Lee Fender Jazz (Geddy is "Bass God" to me) with the Nordstrand NJ4SV pickups. I am saving up for the Audere JZ3 preamp and the Hipshot HB2 tuners to complete the GL bass modification. I got this whole idea from fellow members on TalkBass.

My amp - would you believe this: Is a 1974 Peavey F-800B Festival Series given to me from my brother-in-law. Here's the story, the amp and the Peavey Tweed bass cabinet was given to my brother-in-law in 1978 from the late Leon Wilkinson from Lynyrd Skynyrd. He presented this package to me 5 months ago. He also has the paperwork from Peavey verifying this claim. The equipment still works after 30 years, kudos to Peavey.

I practice every day, but with no musical background in the past it is very difficult to get past the beginner's level. I enjoy playing the bass guitar very much and wanted to play the instrument for the past 10 years, but finally got around this year. Should have done so back then, I would have 10 years under my belt.

My Bass heroes are the aforementioned (Geddy Lee), Steve Harris, & Chris Squire.

Enough of me, just wanted to say Hello!!!
