I have played the guitar off and on for about 14 years, all self taught. I actually just picked my guitar back up after about a 5 year slump a few months ago. I think I am better now then I was when I played everyday for 7 years way back when. In the past few months I noticed I am looking at the guitar in a completely different way then when I was a teenager, so I figured I would go totaly off of left feild and do something completly different and get a bass for my b-day/xmass(yes Dec22 is my bday, which means I get screwed lol).

I have seriously tiny hands, my wife's wedding rings is actually a size bigger then mine and we are about the same hight just to put things into perspective for you. I always thought bass was impossible, I tried a friend's a few times and just put it down after like 5 minutes, never giving it a real chance. But I realize now that seeing as how I can do pretty large stretches on a guitar, 4-5 frets on a bass wont be a problem, and my hands are fast enough just to slide up if I cant reach anything further.

So a few weeks ago the wife bought an Ibanez GSR200, I tried it out for a few hours to make sure I could indeed play it, and she wrapped it up to be untouched until my Bday this Friday. And I have been fiending ever since. Ive been on this board lurking every day, watching every bass video on youtube and google-video, listening to all sorts of Mo-town music, I even have a set of strings waiting for it to be strung up and set up(my favorit guitar ruital, cant wait to do it on a bass!!!)

I can almost see myself being a better bass player then a guitar player, and I only played the thing for like an hour before it was taken from me =-(

as for an amp, I dont have one. What I do have is well...interesting. I sold all of my guitar stuff over the years save for my first guitar. Since I started back a few months ago Ive just been using a Line6 toneport UX1 thru my cpu speakers. But now that I have a bass I have hooked up 2 old sony stereos , 4 bookshelf speakers, on on christmass I will add an active sub woofer straight to my comp. It might not be pretty, but its 500 watts of power, and the UX1 just sounds awsome with its vintage amp/effect models.

So theres my bass story. I know its long, and no one will probably read it all, but I dont care hehe

This is a great forum, and I hope to add to it over the next lifetime!
