Ampeg SVT classic

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a Ampeg SVT Classic Head, had it for three years to date, I need to replace the power tubes in it, fault indicator light flashed red and green. One of the booklets that came with the amp suggested I replace the Driver tubes as well. I was under the impression that preamp and driver tubes would be last much longer than power tubes. Can anybody tell me where the driver tubes are located, are they in the front panel or are they the 3 tubes in back I'm pretty good with replacing stuff, if I buy power tubes for it I just take out the old ones and replace , let the amp warm up for 20 min and with no input signal bias the tubes. How safe is this to do by myself?

I need some helpful advice from other bass players
