Hi guys. Since I've already absorbed so much from this site that I need to take a break, let me introduce myself (rather late than never!).

I'm from the Republic of South Africa and play at church: harmonica & percussions. I also keep myself busy with pedal steel guitar, lapsteel & resophonic guitar - and gave up using these at church because our soundman battles to let it sound proper through the PA.

The regular shortage of bass players at church and our band leaders' insistance of having one included in each service made me decide to take up bass. At 51 I'm not going to achieve ultra-high hights, but if I can do enough to make the band sounds better, I'll be satisfied. I was not too happy listening to beginner bass sounds so I rather opted an Ibanez SR900-ANF (Aged Natural Flat) which went for 40% the price which other shops still sell it for. Its sound already drove me to goosebumps a few times (should I worry ?) and it's much, much more addictive than I've bargained on!

Thanks heavens for the online age - the info from the 'net (including this forum) is absolutely awesome! I hope that one day I can give back a little of all that I've learned here! Tobie Schalkwyk.
