Hi All, glad to be here! Gonna try to get back in the game, just for fun!
Heh, last time I played live, was before most of U were born.
I think that was maybe 1983 or so.
Um, I was too stoned to remember...
So was the rest of the "bands" I spent lots of basement & garage time with. Never made it to 'regular' gigs. Local bars and hall parties, but no steady ($) work. Biggest show had 200+ people. That was fun! We played loud hard rock-of-the-day stuff. "The Who - My Generation" was a fav of mine. Lead player once asked me to do Eminence Front like John Entwistle. I said, "If I could play that, I certainly wouldn't be in this basement!" I still can't read music, I'm gonna try to learn - again.
Back then, my gear was not the high-tech of today, but I had enough boom to make every seat in the joint "wet"!
1976 Fender Precision; Walnut finish, maple neck, Killer bottom!
Bought new for $350. Sold it in '83 for $350.
1977 Kustom (all transistor) 160 WRMS head. Simple, but clean & clear.
(I modded the output heatsink with air holes, & installed a fan to suck the massive heat up & out of the cab. Back then, finding a 5" silent fan was hard enough. I drilled out a 5" metal speaker grill for the cover. Worked great!)
1977 Bullfrog 18 inch front-vent cab. That sucker kicked serious bass!
I loved it so much, I scaled down the dimensions for a replica cab with a 15 inch sub. If only I could find those measurements.

Bullfrog cabs are long gone. I don't even know what speaker was in it, but it sure was clear quality punch. Every place I played brought dust & debris from ceiling fixtures & lights! The drummer hated it. Crud would rain down on his drums. hehehe!

That little 160 watt head was very good. For the 200+ hall party, I rented a Fender dual 12" bass cab to "compliment" my 18 & 15. I killed... I turned up to '4' (before the crowd showed up), and the 8 foot dual fluorescents shook black debris so hard, everyone screamed at me - as they covered their heads. That was big fun, but way too short!
"airpusher" is what I felt like...
My new gear? Well, not really new any more, but unused is accurate.
Yahama RBX360 4 string - black, maple neck, rosewood board.
Pawn shop deal! Paid $169. It had a loose jack. Ten minute fix, it's solid and true. Great deal.
GK MB150-E with 112MBX to go with it. It's way more than I need.
Last big toy; Ibanez EDA-905 5 string, silver, last of the new stock.
Definitely high tech! Solid axe. Though I noticed it had one factory flaw before I bought it; the saddle adjustment screws were prone to rust! I saw several pics of used ones on eBay before I bought mine. Being a tech geek, that was something I could remedy easily. As soon as I got the bass, I removed the junk "black oxide" coated screws, and replaced them with Stainless Steel screws that I ground & polished the ends of, so they wouldn't gouge the black chrome of the bridge base. The action was too high anyway, so I adjusted all that myself also. I can tune a bass, but I can't tuna fish. (You'd have to be a geezer to get that one.)
"Where did I get the SS Metric screws!"? Good question! I had to order a box of 100 from an industrial supply. 10 for me, and 10 for my kid. (He has the same bass, with a GK 750RB-210) So I have 80 'spares'.
If U need some, PM me...
Enough rambling! I'm gonna lurk the turf. Later~
