Bad beginnings

hi, i believe i ave made a mistake! when i joined this forum I gave into my usual slight impatience (not to mention i was in class and a little distracted) and began asking questions when I probably should have just started out by reading!

anyway i want to say sorry for my impatience!

but on a lighter note i want to introduce myself. my name is troy and Im from virginia, I played trumpet for four years before i moved up to where i am now and found that beautiful four string holy grail we like to call a bass. luckily my neighbor is (or was since i have since moved again) a great blues guitarist and he gave me free leasons every sunday. I became decent quickly and was invited to play with my churches youth band and then one night during an open mic event i was asked to play bass with the sunday morning praise band and it all took off from there.

over the past three years that i have been a bass player i have been with many different bands but have unfortunatly played very few stage shows and am hoping to get in with a good group of musicians who care about music as much as i do. i am lucky enough to be in my high schools jazz band and hope to further my knowledge of this glorius instrument.

i have played a variety of basses but I always seem to come right back to a fender percision and jazz, im trying out fretless basses and am planning on buying one to see how it is. I currently own a modified squire p-bass, well actually i own two squire p basses but one of them i am currently in the process of rebuilding, i have removed the neck and am planning on replacing it and actually pretty much rebuilding the whole thing from the body up.

thats my story, again im sorry if i have irritated people by jumping straight into this site, and i hope to gain a large influx of knowledge form all of you.

Thank you!!

Welcome to TalkBass.

If anyone was irritated, I'm sure they'll get over it.
