Bass compressor

This is my first time in any kind of online forum so I'm curious . . . .

Anyway, I'm here to ask a question of this mass-consciousness pool, and namely, I've become interested in the kind of sound you get through a compressor and have lately been looking at a Diamond bass compressor. I note that there is a feature called a "tilt point", and boasts about how this has, in addition to the normal 900Hz tilt point, one at 250Hz. Just wondering if anyone can explain to me what this function does, i.e. how it affects the sound?
