Bass player conventions and such???

Hi all,

I'm new to the bass, but played trumpet for over 40 years. I was wondering, is there an organization(s) for bass players that has conventions, clinics, stuff like that??

I know there are organizations for other instruments....just wondering what's available for the interested bassist.
